Confession of gambling obsessed mother to waste her childrens heritage worth more than GBP150000 on slot machines and roulette

It is an astonishing fact that money worth £46 billion is spent or you can say wasted on gambling machines every year in the UK. The problem of gambling addiction is confessed by more than 500,000 Britons. To confirm this fact, Harriet Harman, the Deputy Labour Leader has come forward this week by making a confession that the verdict of loosening the gambling rules at the time of their authority in the ministry was an error.     

The disadvantage of fanaticism of gambling can even lead to losing heritage of one’s children and to prove it a woman named Phyllis Sofocleous came forward to announce that she lost more than £150,000 on roulette and gambling machines.

She gave an interview on the journal named This Morning along with her daughter Gigi Petite and stated that she started to gamble while she was out with her friends and became addicted to as one gets addicted to adrenalin.  She added that she had a hard time to face following her break up with her husband. The money she got in the form of compensation from her husband was lying in bank and was meant to be spent in making future of his children bright.  
 
Phyllis continued to pass by casino each day while going to her job in London. Her friends used to go to casino those days and she also cracked in for some times. In the beginning, she used to visit casino once a week which increased to twice a week then three times a week and then it became an obsession to visit casino each night. While doing all this, she told a lie to her family and acted to them as if she was doing an overtime job. 
She added that once you go, you win and expect the same event to happen again on your subsequent visit. However it is not true, sometimes you lose but you still think that you know about the outcome of the roulette spinning ball. 

To all this, Gigi was not able to comprehend the reason behind so much luring of money in the game of gambling. She informed the press that she along with her brother didn’t understand about whereabouts of their mother however they did understand that she was telling a lie. All this was upsetting but she was not old enough to understand all that and to believe the extent of money being lost by their mother.  

But on becoming familiar with this truth, Gigi was regretful for her mother as she thought she did all that with some nice objective. But her brother was quite annoyed at her mother. Gigi continued that her mother is a tough woman and it was quite miserable to see that she was telling a lie and faced such a huge loss. This act of hers was equally embarrassing as she lost all money that could have been utilized to make their future bright. 

Others to join the interview with this gambling addict were Eamon Holmes, Ruth Langsford and the gambling addiction psychotherapist, Ian Semel. According to Ian, gambling is a concealed obsession. He added that when you are in a casino you are automatically drawn towards gambling. Gambling addiction is different from other types of addictions the way that you come to know about the trouble only when you start getting into debt and are short of money. Other types of addictions such as drugs or alcohol are easily perceived by others while gambling is a hidden addiction. The money and type of bet doesn’t matter in gambling as things have changed with development in the gambling industry and you can gamble all through day and night.     

In all these chaos of gambling, the only thing that gives respite is that the dealing of casinos with the gamblers has changed. Numbers of procedures are there to help out people including prohibition from casinos. 

To all this, Phyllis who has got rid of her gambling addiction with the help of new associate stated that although warning messages are always on the gambling devices, however you just overlook these when you start gambling. The same thing happened with her as she felt the need for help only when she was not left with any money. She was not aware how to act till she met her new associate. She feels happy over the fact that all this is known to her daughter Gigi as it would have been difficult to tell a lie any longer. Since all this is already public now and she feels somewhat relaxed.
